First off, before I even start I want to tell you that being a photographer is not as glamorous as everyone thinks it is (that’s what you all think, right?). Right as I had logged into my blog to start this post, Ollie jumped up on my lap and promptly vomited on my pretty white Apple keyboard. Totally gross. So, this would have been up an hour ago if it wasn’t for that. Just thought you all should know.
Second, my sister is awesome and there isn’t going to be another time that you will see this many photos of her in one spot – until maybe her bat mitzvah post and then senior shoot – so I am doing it up with way too many pictures. Melanie’s bat mitzvah is next Saturday. Yes, she decided to have her bat mitzvah on the most popular wedding date of the year, 9-10-11, so to all the brides whose weddings I wasn’t able to book, please focus your blame on this super cute 13 year old.
I don’t really even know where to begin with this girl. I guess I could start with how before she was born and maybe in the first few months of her life, I hated her. Keep in mind I was as old as she is now and was originally the only girl in a family with 3 kids. Everyone always wanted to know how Melanie was doing, brought Melanie presents, wanted to hold her, wanted to feed her her bottles, and oh my goodness I. Wanted. Her. gone. But then I thought about how having a sister isn’t so bad. Maybe she would wear my old clothes! And we could share things! Luckily, she turned out to be awesome and we didn’t have to return her after all. 🙂
Melanie is growing up so fast. I can remember very clearly how I was in 8th grade, and oh my goodness, I look back and think I was never ever like that, right??? Oh, but I was. And so is Melanie. She will soon have her very first David Carter type “love” – that was my first boyfriend, oh my goodness, I hope he doesn’t read this. Probably fake hates her parents sometimes but knows she can never live without them. But mostly Melanie is very herself. I don’t think she pretends to be anyone else, which I super admire in her. She is taller than me, even though I will never admit that in person, and she is absolutely stunning when she isn’t being silly. She has this incredible talent that I know she will never give up on, which makes me so proud of her. She says that I am amazing but, really, I think she is and I could not be more happy to have her as my sister. Ok, now I am teary. So, on to the photos.
I made Melanie do some jumps and spins before we really got started.
I think this was my favorite from the whole day.
Seriously, this is the first I am learning that Melanie had to have modeled in a past life. Ridiculously gorgeous!
Melanie thinks I am funny.
I was going to edit out all her scrapes and bug bites, but those are just what a 13 year olds legs look like, especially ones that just came back from camp.
I have the best sister ever. I love you, Melanie!!
