Throwing up when you are hangover makes you feel better. Going to the bathroom after eating yum yum sauce at Miyako’s makes you feel better. Exorcisms have got to make you feel so much better. And let’s not forget about sexual tension – you just feel so much better. So logically venting about something that is bothering you generally makes you feel better too, right? Totally seems like common sense. But venting – catharsis – is actually like adding fuel to the fire and actually makes most situations worse.
It has just been a no good few weeks. It is literally just one thing after another. And it is supposed to be my rest and get a fresh perspective on next year time. I, by no means, am going to vent about it because I don’t think that will help matters in any way. Instead of venting, my new coping mechanism will be to remember how awesome it was to be in this very spot, on this very day and to forget about things that are upsetting because when all is said and done – does it really even matter?
