No Filter Friday

Remember those awesome wrap ups I used to do? I know. They were awesome. You wasted a lot of time at work and they were fun to read but ya know what? They got so far away from what they originally were. They were intended to tell you about my week and what I did – not necessarily what websites I went to. So I am going back to a Friday post with the intention of telling you about a snippet of my week with the hopes that it helps my writing and reveals more about me on a personal level so when you come to meet with me at my studio or I show up on your wedding day, you know just that much more about the real person behind the camera. Maybe occasionally I will throw in a link or two but they will be nowhere near what they had been. Kapeesh?

This week, I am in Austin. I’ve been visiting my awesome friend Janice, her hubs Brandon and her two boys since 2010. I have loved watching these boys grow up. Janice just showed me a photo of how little E was when I first started visiting and I am just amazed. I love coming down here not only for Janice and weddings but to get beat in checkers, old maid, connect four and this year gin. This year I even got to help homeschool! So fun! Coming to Austin also means taking pictures, drinking tea, and getting hooked on some really stupid tv show that I really have no time to watch (read: Gossip Girl, Pretty Little Liars). This year it has also started an obsession with Madewell. Which needs to stop soon because just like Anthro, I cannot afford that store.

This is sorta personal but Frank and I had talked about having kids last year sometime when discussing health insurance plans. I was admittedly resistant for strictly the reason of my job and needing it all to be perfectly planned date wise and what would my brides think…blah blah. Frank said one thing that really stuck with me and it might sound silly to you guys but he said “Think about all the joy the dogs bring you.” I’m not going to lie, even though their paws get so muddy and they run through the house and one of them eats stink bugs and the other would eat its own poop if I let it, they really do bring so much joy. Then I come here and get to hang out with these kids who are morphing into these kick ass older kids and it clicks every time. These kids are nuts joyous and maybe I come for Janice and Brandon but I most definitely come to see these kiddos.

So there ya have it. I am in Austin and I love these two fart faces. Yes, that is what they have taken to calling me whenever I call them little people or kids. Or skunk butt. Take your pick.
