Advanced warning: this one is a huge tear jerker. I can’t tell you how many times I teared up behind my camera.
Back in 2009 at Fedex Field in section 126, Megan and Phil were innocent bystanders of cupid’s arrow. Both there to watch the Skins dominate, they had no idea that by halftime they would be making out in the bleachers. Six days later Megan bought her wedding dress. I know, you are thinking that is insane, she has known this guy all of six days, this girl is nuts. But she isn’t. Her mother was dying of ovarian cancer and she wanted more than anything to be there when she bought her wedding dress. So, Megan’s amazing friend Sara arranged a ton of appointments at different dress shops, explaining the sensitive situation, and the girls made a day of it until she found her her dress – a dress that would still be classy if she didn’t get married until she was 45, Megan joked. A week after she bought the dress Phil and Megan made their relationship official and he was able to meet her mom before she passed away. Megan’s brother Ryan recounted a funny story of the first time Phil came over to the house to meet her mom. Less than a foot away was a picture of Megan in her wedding dress with her mom at the dress shop. Having known each other less than 2 weeks, all Ryan could think about was needing to hide that picture because Phil is going to freak out and leave. But Phil is just as amazing as Megan and much to everyone’s surprise, he stuck around, even attended their mom’s funeral after knowing Megan for 3 weeks and then so willingly helped with everything that happens after someone dies. Two years and 3 months later, on Christmas Eve, Phil proposed to Megan. And she said yes. And last Sunday she got to wear her gorgeous wedding dress and marry her true love.
Crying yet? Me too.
Megan and Phil were nuts and went back to work for 3 days before leaving on their honeymoon cruise on Friday. I hope they drink a million boat drinks and have the time of their lives!!!
Also, I am super grateful for my second shooters this past weekend – both Anna (at Marie and Ricky’s wedding) and Brea were incredible to work with and I cannot wait to have them at more weddings this year!! Brea’s photos are prominently featured in this post – the groomsmen and most of the detail shots are hers. Couldn’t thank them enough!!

I did not make the makeup process any easier – definitely made Megan laugh too much.
We had some downtime where Megan told me stories and we cuddled in bed. I have the best brides ever.
Sorry Megan, couldn’t help it.
To calm the mood this awesome bridesmaid decided to try some therapeutic techniques she uses on her students – breath in was “smell the cookies” and exhale was “blow out those birthday candles.” Adorbs. I instantly loved her.
Simply gorgeous, Megan. Seriously.
Yep – crying behind my camera. Super glad they are in perfect focus.
These flowers were so amazing!!!!! I loved them!!
Her amazing brother escorted her down the aisle. 🙂
Walking out to Hail to the Redskins!! Brilliant!!!
Post ceremony party shoes – teal for ovarian cancer awareness. 🙂
PUPS!!!!
I wanted to shoot in some nooks and crannies that I hadn’t shot in so much before (I have only once for Sarah & Jay’s wedding). I think this might be my new favorite space.
After all those super emotional dances, all of the cousins and bridal party had an awesome flash mob. The tears didn’t last long!!
on any of these fine social media platforms…
I’m based in Maryland, DC and Northern VA but don’t worry, I LOVE to travel.
I love me a new passport stamp.
