This post also is going to start off with me talking about a past client – Brittany and Dan!! Seriously between Brittany and Dan and Jaime and Ryan, they could fill up my calendar for a year with friends getting married or having babies. I love it. Derek is Dan’s bro and lucky for him, he had already put up with my torture once and obviously made it out alive so he knew he was safe to tell his bride that I was the best and that was the end of that discussion. I at least picture that is how it all went down. Even though I am positive that Brittany talking to Monica was more so how it happened. Lucky for me, Monica and I connected just as well as Derek and I did and that made for epic picture taking between the engagement session in the freezing cold and their wedding this past Friday. I truly adore working with this family and hope the relationship continues for years!!
Monica and Derek met through 2 different mutual friends that had the same exact idea – that they needed to meet. So at a party, Derek and Monica sat nervously and spoke to one another. Derek eventually left the party and Monica was one of the last ones to leave. Derek had been waiting in his truck for her to come out so he could ask for her number. Two days later he called her and they set up their first date. Fast forward to September of 2012 where sitting on a bench at the top of a waterfall in Rock State Park, Derek cool as a cucumber and Monica very unexpecting of anything that was about to happen, Derek repeatedly looks over at Monica and tells her how much he loves her. When the moment was perfect and the other park goers were gone, Derek got down on one knee and proposed. Monica just kept saying “are you serious” multiple times before her final answer which was “of course.”
Monica & Derek – if you didn’t know this already, I completely and whole heartedly adore you two. Working with you both has been nothing short of incredible. I loved being a part of your day. Thank you so much for always making me feel like family. I hope St. Lucia is absolutely perfect and that you are having an amazing time!!
For those of you actually reading all of these words – I highly recommend you listen to this while looking through these photos. It was their first dance song and I will never not be able to think of them when it plays now. It was so perfect and fitting and got a really big “Awwwww” from the crowd.
By the end of the night, I wanted a twin so bad. I love these two!!
I. am. obsessed! Love all of these!!
Such an epic reception!
We even managed a selfie with my good old 24-70 to end the night. 🙂
