This past week I went to Austin, TX to visit an old college roommate, Janice. I hadn’t seen her in years but it was amazing to catch up and it honestly seemed that we picked up right where we left off. I had a great time getting to know her husband and spending time with her kids. I even brought my camera along!
Janice is an incredible photographer. She takes a lot of really great shots of her family and I am forever looking at her albums online, thinking wow, she is better than me! She taught me some of her photography secrets, some I am so glad she taught me because I was foolish to believe she had amazing colored walls all over her house…. Makes me realize how incredibly naive I still am when it comes to a lot of things photography related, especially setting up a studio in your home! But have no fear. I am pretty sure I have it figured out now. 🙂
While the littlest one was sleeping, we set up the studio outside on the porch since it was storming and there wasn’t a lot of light inside. I snagged some good ones of little Benny. And you can see from the get go that giving them your lens caps is a great idea to get them to smile….who knew?? I also should mention that Benny took a face drive about a week before these photos were taken, but hey, scratches, cuts, scrapes are all part of childhood, so I only edited it out in one.
I love these next few in b and w.
I love his expression in this one.
Seeking some assistance from mommy for some smiles!
Then we woke up mister Everett. And he is cute as a button. He was my slumber party boy since I got to sleep in his room. I woke up at 6:56 am to him staring right at me through his crib. Pretty scary stuff. 🙂 Mister Everett is much easier to capture because he still stumbles on his legs a bit and doesn’t mind sitting still.
We even got Janice in one!!
I adore his little rain boots. Wish I had gotten a close up of them.
This next one I am positive Janice took, but I liked my editing on it.
I know this one is blurry, but I heart it. Thanks so much for having me, Janice! Your family is incredible and everything I would want. I hope your life is just as close to perfect as I think it looks. 🙂
