This wedding is near and dear to my heart. I have known Shanna since my very first real job after college. We were hired around the same time and always had a knack for making any boring day at a home for people with mental illness fun for all involved. But my favorite was the little short moments Shanna and I had alone after we got everyone up and to the day program for their activities, there would be so few people in the house that we would sit and work on a puzzle in the living room. This must sound super strange – but it really was an incredible job that only hired the most incredible people. Shanna was definitely destined for better things though and ended up going part time while I was still there. Luckily she didn’t completely leave me until about 2 years later when I was her supervisor running a dual diagnosis house. I knew what she was going to tell me when she said she needed to talk and while I was super sad, I had known it was going to happen.
While we worked together, Shanna met Brian I always joked with her and called him Professor Bittner. 🙂 But regardless, it was so awesome seeing her grow so happy and in love with someone. Around this same time I fell in love with photography, I remember the day I purchased my Canon 5D, which only recently was put on the shelf, I purchased it on my lunch break and drove it back to work in my 1991 Toyota Corolla (aka Old Blue) and remember thinking wow, this thing is worth more than my car! I had decided that I wanted to do this for real, be a photographer and she helped me design my very first website. The thought never crossed my mind that this past weekend there I would be photographing her wedding at The Elm in Baltimore but I did and am so happy with the photos.
Shanna and Brian – from the bottom of my heart, I wish you both all of the happiness in the world. I hope that no matter the changes we make in our careers and lives in general that we never lose touch. I hope you have an amazing time on your honeymoon and I can’t wait to hang out again soon!! Hope you enjoy the photos!!
Just to give you all some background – the theme for this wedding was books. Not library, not dewey decimal, books. And it was awesome. And yes, I know, I am posting way too many photos. Sowey.
I’m cool, right??
Shanna made this! She MADE it! She also said it took her about 12 hours and if she had known that before she started she would have never done it. All of the bridesmaids made their own bouquets out of book paper, it was super fun to see them all.
Hand made boutonnières too!
The rings were tied to books and they read their vows from books as well!
First look!! It was a bit emotional.
Love this one!
Seriously – the cuteness!!
The last 3 months have been non stop craft night. Brian was a good sport and helped decoupage all of the vases and even got crafty with the books! Even more book flowers!
They gave out eco friendly journals as their favors. 🙂
The one and only wedding I had a drink at, only because the apple hug sounded delicious.
The seating chart was a table of contents of course!
This is Oslo – the best behaved groomsmen.
Tree planting ceremony!
No cake – just amazing homemade pies! Made by Shanna’s dad!
Guestbook!
Happily ever after. 🙂
