I am so lucky. I seriously have an incredible life and it is not until I step back from it all that I really realize it. I got to go to the Dominican Republic to photograph a wedding. And I loved every minute of it.
I have been back for more than a week now and have yet to share a single photo. I have had a really hard time picking the ones I want to share because everything was legit beautiful. But today it is finally time to show everyone this gorgeous wedding. I met Suzy and Polo when they were the best dancing guests at Elaine & Tom’s wedding. I think Suzy’s sister got it right during her speech, you can’t say no to Suzy because Suzy would literally do anything for anybody. She is so sweet and kind and spontaneous and outgoing. I absolutely loved her and felt like I had known her forever throughout this whole process. And Polo who could be a GQ model, so zesty and full of life, yet level headed and able to reel Suzy in if needed. They totally balance each other out perfectly. I was so honored to be picked to photograph their big day.
Now, to me, destination weddings are usually small affairs, but this was not the case at this wedding. There were about 90 people in attendance from so many different countries. Some of which spoke languages others didn’t understand but when all was said and done it didn’t really matter. They were all their to celebrate the same thing.
Suzy and Polo – I had an incredible time! I cannot thank you enough. You were so incredible to work with and so easy to photograph. I could not be more pleased with the results and I truly hope you like them! I am thinking a wedding reunion in the DR should be planned in the future!! Hope you had a great second week and got some surfing in!!
A special thanks to Richard from 4TW. It was a privilege working with you and I truly hope to do it again! Thanks for keeping me informed and being so accomodating. You are incredibly talented and put on a beautiful event! And also a special thanks to Anne Lagan Poulin and Chef Arsenio at the Hideaway Restaurant at Hideaway Beach. Anne, you were wonderful to work with and I can’t wait to get some pictures your way!!
There is an awesome story behind this wedding dress. Suzy essentially got it for free it was just missing the back so she created one!! It was so fun and frilly and perfect for the Dominican. It was designed by Suzy but brought to life by Angie Cavallaro.
This was the guests ceremony view.
Not bad at all… see what I mean about me being lucky?
The details were just amazing. Such bright and vibrant flowers – would have never known it was November!
Polo had to have modeled in another life.
These guys were legit so easy to photograph. And hot hot hot! I think this might be my favorite walking pic ever.
While the whole ceremony was in Spanish, it was so much fun to see and be a part of. It seemed truly meaningful and even had some laughing points.
ODM! (Oh Dios Mio!) You guys are just stunning.
Amazing party!!!
🙂
I loved the story behind Suzy’s wedding band. It was designed especially for her. Aside from Polo she gets tired of things really easy so she created a ring that she can just turn whenever she gets bored of it. The diamonds and their birthstones are different directions and it is all over the place and fun. I loved the idea and think that Emily Busch did an incredible job creating something truly unique for just Suzy.
My favorite action shot for last. 🙂
