Carolyn and Chris got married at the beautiful Holy Trinity Catholic Church, in Georgetown, on a drizzly fall day. It was a simple but beautiful celebration of love, faith, family.
The couple met while volunteering as adult leaders with the youth ministry at Holy Trinity. and have been together for 3 fun years. They are just the loveliest people. I love a fun story – so here is untold by Carolyn about how Chris invited her to her own proposal via Facebook!
“Chris invited me to my own proposal via Facebook. It was an accident, he meant to invite my sister, but I saw the notification pop up and opened the event before he could tell me not to do so. He successfully convinced me that the engagement would be later that summer, but we still kept the brunch plans he’d made at the place where we had our first date. Just in case, I checked his pockets for a ring as he walked up, but he was sneaky and had taken it out of the box. We had a really nice brunch, where he successfully played it off like he was super tired after just getting back from Haiti and I really felt like no proposal was happening. I also broke a wineglass. After brunch, the restaurant staff brought us prosecco because they knew what Chris was up to. While he was scrambling to come up with a reason why they’d do this, I helpfully attributed it to them feeling sorry for me because I cut my hand on the broken glass. As Chris whisked me out of the restaurant, he began reminiscing about our first date, which we dragged out for hours because we didn’t want to say good night. It was then I noticed the crowd of people at the bottom of the stairs and thought “Oh, this is it!” Chris asked me to marry him in front of family and friends, but barely got the words out before I shrieked “YES!” in his face. It was so cute, so sweet, so us and I was (and still am!) just the absolute happiest. “
For the reception, the couple had planned live music and endless dancing for their guests, and everyone had so much fun – the conga’d, partied like rockstars danced the night away. When I asked them what their favorite part of wedding planning was: The tasting 🙂 A day during which we get to eat ALL of the food and sample a bunch of wines? Pretty much their dream. So many things to look forward to future DLP couples!!
